Now Trending:#Vine, SnapChat, News Feeds + More
Rather than take the time to share a #flashbackfriday moment, let’s flash forward to the present and see what’s been buzzing about for the last few weeks.
- Vine - the latest Twitter craze, this app allows users to post 6 second videos that loop. Media powerhouses including NBCNews and Buzzfeed were early adopters. Currently available for Apple iOS only so hold tight Android users. Seems to be catching on though the initial buzz is beginning to subside. Can the Vine continue to climb? Only time will tell.
- SnapChat – this app is raising eyebrows across the globe, allowing users to message one another using photos. The photo disappears after a set time up to 10 seconds, deleted from the recipient’s device and company servers. Developed by four Stanford students, this app doesn’t show tremendous B2C or B2B potential yet. Available for Apple and Android devices.
- To commute or telecommute? – That is the question plaguing the country ever since new Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer announced that she was putting the kibosh on telecommuting to get the company back on track. Best Buy followed suit by developing new telecommuting restrictions. Public outcry swept the nation but polls indicate people are split on the issue.
- Facebook – the Joan Rivers of social media, Facebook announced another news feed facelift is in the works. This one will showcase larger images and different feed options, drawing no doubt on the success of the Facebook-owned photo sharing app, Instagram.
In the business world, Vine and Facebook are the big winners for this week, as companies continue trying to make sense of SnapChat and telecommuting. As for the rest? Google+ rolled out design changes ahead of Facebook’s, Pinterest continues to boom and the rest of us just keep on working our way through cyberspace.
