Shore Report: Six Months Since Sandy

There is no question that New Jersey is a small state with a BIG reputation. Six months since Superstorm Sandy rocked the East Coast, work to restore the Shore in NJ remains slow but steady. The days of Snooki are long gone, along with miles of boardwalk and businesses. Still, in true Jersey fashion, us Shore folk are eager to see our home turf returned to its full glory.

As Memorial Day lurks just around the corner, team Devon is here to provide a look at what’s in store down the Shore for the next few months. We begin our journey in Monmouth County – home to The Devon Group’s HQ.

Down in Asbury Park, The Stone Pony is leading efforts to rebuild and rock the Shore back into action with summer shows featuring Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, The Gaslight Anthem, Rusted Root, Deer Tick, The Wailers and more. This does not even begin to account for what’s happening at the Count Basie Theatre or PNC Bank Arts Center.

Festivals are popping up along the Shore. Just the month of June alone includes Red Bank’s Riverfest, the 26th Annual Seafood Festival in Belmar, the 43rd Annual NJ Irish Festival in Oceanport at the Monmouth Park Racetrack,  Asbury Park’s Blues and Brews Festival, and the Colts Neck Country Fair. We can't wait to hear what’s planned for July and August!

Farmers’ markets will pop up everywhere from Keyport to the Highlands to Bradley Beach and all the way down to Manasquan. There will be movies on the beach in Asbury Park, free concerts on Sandy Hook, and fireworks every week.

Next up, we'll hop on down to Ocean County, home of the Seaside Boardwalk, the NJ Ice Cream Festival and so much more. Better get your beach bag packed!
